Now my car might actually start on occasion.
Blueprint for the four-door version of my car. Kinda want this as a poster.
This is the cutest thing I’ve seen all day. (Taken with Instagram)
He genuinely spent about five minutes picking a filter for this.
New engine is in and ticking over quite well. Sadly it lacks any real power and is blowing lots of white smoke out, which suggests that either the valves or rings are worn. Thankfully that shouldn’t take too long to sort it out.
Not too bad for an original engine that has been sitting around for the better part of 15 years (and only cost £107), though. This also means that most of the money from the crazy overtime I’ve done recently will stay mine. Quite content. And tired.
So my new(ish) engine arrived today. My dad bought an A-Series front-wheel drive engine for a rear-wheel drive car. We could put it in, but it would mean a rebuild, which we don’t have the time for (my current engine could be rebuilt and used too, but again, neither of us has the time to do that) so now I’m lumbered with an engine I can’t use, and can’t afford another until we sell this one on.
My dad is a very special little boy.
Disappointing that I have to keep my distance from home relatively short. Once my dad and I get the engine’s timing completely sound, there should be nothing stopping me from going cross-country in her. Which I really, really want to do this summer.
It’s funny because the oil seal blew out and the engine seized in the season when I want and need to use Maggie most. Fuck, I miss driving.
Eventually the universe will quit fucking with me and I’ll have a functioning car again.
Maggie’s being repainted and this mock-Instagram app sucks.
Maggie made a friend!
